The Head of State received Chairman of the Supreme Court Aslambek Mergaliyev, El.kz reports citing Akorda.

The President was informed about the measures taken to improve the quality of the administration of justice.

According to Aslambek Mergaliev, the analytical block has been strengthened and a third of the entire array of regulatory resolutions of the Supreme Court has been adjusted. The level of protection of citizens' rights during investigations has increased, the proportion of refusals to authorize preventive measures in the form of detention has increased, the number of cases considered by jurors and the proportion of civil disputes that have ended in settlement agreements has increased.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was also briefed on the progress of judicial reform. Thus, together with the deputy corps, a number of legislative amendments were initiated aimed at implementing the instructions of the President.

In particular, it is proposed to revise the institution of initiating disciplinary proceedings for gross violations of the law, to improve the work of the commission on the quality of justice and to form an independent cassation instance. The President noted the special role of the courts in ensuring the rule of law and protecting the rights and legitimate interests of citizens and entrepreneurs.

The Head of State considers it important to continue work on further reforming the judicial system.
