Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu received the Special Envoy to the Prime Minister of Japan Akihisa Nagashima,El.kz cites MFA. 

During the talks, the parties discussed the current state and prospects for the development of the Kazakh-Japanese strategic partnership in trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres, as well as cooperation on international platforms.

Particular attention was paid to the preparation of joint activities in 2025, including the organization of the first Summit of the “Central Asia + Japan” Dialogue in Astana.

The Foreign Minister emphasized that Kazakhstan attaches great importance to the development of bilateral cooperation with Japan, which is an important partner in Asia. In this regard, the readiness to further strengthen cooperation across the full range of areas was confirmed.

“Japan has advanced technologies and innovations in demand in various sectors of the economy. We see significant potential for expanding cooperation and realization of new investment projects,” Minister Nurtleu noted.

The parties expressed interest in developing joint projects in the spheres of energy, ecology and extraction of critical metals, which will contribute to the growth of mutual trade and investment.

Special Envoy Nagashima, in turn, noted that Kazakhstan is a key partner of Japan in Central Asia and has sustainable opportunities to expand bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting there was also an exchange of views on topical issues on the international and regional agenda.
