Delegations from participating countries attended the event, and the amphitheater’s square gathered around 150,000 people – both locals and visitors who traveled specially for the opening ceremony.
Dimash, a People’s Artist of Kazakhstan, took the stage with an international ensemble of musicians and dancers, performing several of his popular hits. Songs like Golden, Give Me Your Love, Weekend, Stranger, Love of Tired Swans, Durdaraz, Unforgettable Day, Makhabbat Ber Magan, and Adayechoed from the stage set along the Caspian Sea.
“Hello! Greetings to the people of Mangystau, a region deeply connected to the sacred dombra! As we say: ‘If a six-year-old boy comes from afar, a 60-year-old aksakal (elder) will go out to greet him.’ Dear people of Aktau, warm-hearted fellow countrymen, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your love!,” Dimash shared with the audience.
During his visit to Aqtau, Dimash also met with 87-year-old handicraft master Sharkhat Tolemisova, who traveled from Mangystau especially for the event to present him with a handmade shashak(traditional charm).
Dimash had seen a post about her on social media and personally requested the meeting. She gifted him the specially made shashak along with her blessings, and Dimash, in return, gave her 10-year-old great-grandson a pendant and ring of his own, along with words of encouragement.
