During a briefing at the CCS, Deputy Defense Minister Darkhan Akhmediyev reported on the development of digitalization in the army, El.kz reports.

The process of digitalization began in 2011. This year, a budget investment program called "Creation and implementation of automated command and control systems for troops, weapons, resources" was adopted. Within the framework of the work done, some positive results have been achieved.

For example, 93% of public services have been transferred to electronic format. A number of information systems have been developed. In particular, information systems for accounting for human and material resources have been developed, a communication infrastructure, a cybersecurity unit, a multi-level system for training and advanced training of military specialists in the field of cybersecurity have been created. In particular, bachelor's, master's degree, advanced training courses," the speaker said.

At the same time, the program "Creation and implementation of automated control systems for troops, weapons, resources" was not mastered. In 2011, 93 billion tenge was allocated from the budget for it. Of these funds, only 35 billion, that is, 37.6%, have been disbursed.

There are other reasons. As a result, there are a number of problems in the Ministry. In particular, today information systems are recorded in various stacks, are not amenable to integration. There is also no special telecommunications network. One military unit cannot provide full interaction with another, there is a telephone line, but such operations cannot be performed to transmit large packets or other files.

In addition, there are not enough specialists in the Ministry of Defense. Their salary is by 3-4 times lower than the salary of specialists in the market. Therefore, after work and the end of the contract, specialists go to the market. In addition, inefficient business processes are widespread. The processes that took place in the Soviet army or 10-20 years ago are still taking place. There is a problem with the infrastructure, computers, servers, switches are outdated," the speaker said.

According to him, to solve these issues, the department sets itself specific goals. Of these, 5 priority areas have been identified: infrastructure and technology, processes and data, people and skills, innovation and cybersecurity.
