December 7 - International Civil Aviation Day
The professional holiday was established in honor of civil aviation workers who have made a significant contribution to the development of the industry, and has been celebrated by the decision of the UN General Assembly since December 7, 1994 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Convention on International Civil Aviation, El.kz reports.
According to this convention, a special UN agency, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), was created.
According to the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan, this year the aviation industry of Kazakhstan has many good indicators. During the year, the domestic fleet was replenished with 9 new aircraft. By the end of the year, Kazakhstan's airports will serve more than 25 million passengers, which is 22% more than in 2022.
The volume of domestic traffic has been fully restored and amounts to 640 flights on 50 routes per week.
International air communication has been established with 28 countries. This year, new flights to 13 countries on 23 routes have been resumed and opened.
Work continues to further improve the achieved level of flight safety and strengthen regional cooperation.
As part of the modernization of aviation infrastructure, new passenger terminals are being built at the airports of Almaty, Shymkent and Kyzylorda, and the reconstruction of the air terminal in Kostanay is being completed. The implementation of these projects will increase the capacity of domestic aviation facilities.
The issue of preparing the infrastructure of our airports for the transition to Jet A-1 aviation fuel standards is also being worked out.
In general, many important steps have been taken during the year to strengthen and grow the air transport sector.
In this regard, the Minister of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan Marat Karabayev congratulated the employees of the country's civil aviation on their professional holiday.
