This was stated by the Minister of Information and Social Development Darkhan Kydyrali at an online meeting with Sergey Sokolov, Director for Government Relations and Corporate Affairs of TikTok in Eastern Europe, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Information and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Also the meeting was attended by Dmitry Pylev, Head of Government Relations in Central Asia. Now he will work in Kazakhstan on a permanent basis.

Darkhan Kydyrali thanked the company for opening a representative office and wished success in the work of Dmitry Pylev. It should be noted that recently the interface of the platform was translated into the Kazakh language. This is one of the results of bilateral work.

"In addition, Darkhan Kydyrali suggested that representatives of the company work together to prevent child cyberbullying, as well as to exclude the use of TikTok by children under the age of 13," the press service of the ministry reports.

The Minister paid special attention to the increasing cases of cyberbullying on social networks, as well as actions that encourage suicide.

"We must work together with online platforms to prevent the display of suicidal content, especially among children and young people," Darkhan Kydyrali said.

Darkhan Kydyrali also spoke about the features of the draft law "On Internet Advertising and Online Platform" currently being discussed, noting that the legislation addresses the issue of joint work with the owners of online platforms, moderation and monetization of Kazakh-language content and translation of interfaces into the state language.

In his speech, Sergey Sokolov stressed that the company pays special attention to the underuse of the TikTok platform by persons under the age of 13, and confirmed its readiness to work together with interested authorities, the public and experts to comply with age restrictions and prevent cyberbullying.

"In particular, in February we launched campaigns to counter online bullying as part of our Security Academy program," added Sergey Sokolov.

Having discussed the draft law "On Internet Advertising and Online Platform", which is currently being developed, he also said that the company is ready to contribute as part of the working group.

The Ministry of Information and Social Development recalled that the agency recently held a round table on the topic "Media Ethics and Protection of Children's Rights", where it adopted a special recommendation, calling for compliance with international and local standards for children in the media.
