Cooperation in field of human rights discussed in Washington
The U.S. Department of State hosted a meeting between the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Yerzhan Ashikbayev, and the U.S. Deputy Secretary of State for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights, Uzra Zeya, El.kz cites MFA.
During the meeting, the U.S. side reaffirmed its strong support for the program of political reforms and democratic transformations initiated by President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. Specifically, Uzra Zeya welcomed the President's decree on human rights and the rule of law, as well as the action plan for its implementation.
The sides constructively discussed key aspects of cooperation within the framework of the High-Level Dialogue on Human Rights and Democratic Reforms. Particular attention was given to achievements in combating domestic violence, countering human trafficking, and promoting an inclusive society.
Additionally, they highlighted the successful launch of a dialogue on the rights of persons with disabilities following last year’s “C5+1” Presidential Summit.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed their commitment to further strengthening productive and reliable cooperation based on mutual interests and shared values.
