Capitals of Kazakhstan and Latvia Strengthen Twinning Ties

Kazakhstan's Ambassador to Latvia Dauren Karipov met with Riga City Council Chairman Vilnis Kirsis, El.kz cites MFA.

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues related to strengthening and expanding twinning ties between Riga and two metropolises of Kazakhstan – Astana and Almaty, as well as exchanged views on the status and prospects of bilateral cooperation.

The sides noted the special role of interregional cooperation in the progressive development of trade and economic, transit and logistics, cultural and humanitarian ties.

In addition, Ambassador Karipov informed about the plans to enhance co-operation in the economic and cultural areas.

For his part, Kirsis reaffirmed his fundamental readiness for practical cooperation at the interregional level, welcoming the idea of expanding and strengthening twinning ties between the capitals, and assured of his constant support for initiatives to further strengthen mutually beneficial partnership.

At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to maintain working contacts on all topical issues.
