She kindly agreed to answer the questions of our portal.

—Could you tell us about creation of association “Bukovina”? Why is it called “Bukovina”?

—Cultural association “Bukovina” began its activity as a part of the Assembly of people of Kazakhstan since May 2013. The official registration date is 29 September 2015.  Despite the small community (there is about 2000 Romanians and Moldovans in the region), more than 60 members of the association – young people, children and adolescents, representatives of the older generation are involved in the activity of “Bukovina”. The work here is being done on a voluntary basis with the involvement of the activist group under the leadership of the Chairman of Association. I am the Chairman of the “Romanian-Moldovan ethno-cultural association “Bukovina” since the establishment. Bukovina — country of beech, the area where the beech trees grow. Bukovina is the historical name of the territory of Romania (South Bukovina).

—What is the mission of your association?

—Accomplishment of spiritual, public, amateur and other interests of citizens. Preservation of the language, culture and traditions of the ethnos.

—What national holidays are celebrated in your public association?

—Ancient calendar holidays, attracting great interest from representatives of the ethnos and citizens are revived: the ritual celebration of spring “Martsishor”, a harvest festival, agricultural holiday “Plugoshor”, other national traditions – wedding, birth of a child.

—What is the national dish?

—All kinds of dishes of meat and vegetables are the basis of the national cuisine. Mamlyga is the most commonly used product in everyday life instead of bread, it is a steeply cooked porridge made of corn flour with both salted food and sweet dishes. National dishes are also placinte — a kind of layer cakes, stuffed with cheese, herbs, cabbage. National cuisine is full of many types of traditional soup “chorbe” and generally accepted variety of cheese and vegetables in Europe.

—What do you think about the Kazakhstan model of social harmony and national unity?

—This is a unique model, which has no analogues in the world, designed to spread the ideas of spiritual unity in order to strengthen and preserve the friendship of people and interethnic consent.

—What does “Bukovina” realize within the framework of the Assembly?

—It makes a significant contribution to the solution of social, cultural and educational tasks set before the Assembly of people of Kazakhstan. The association participates in state programmes, social and political events, patriotic actions aimed at strengthening stability and interethnic consent in the region and education of patriots of the Republic of Kazakhstan among young people.
