Austria aims to deepen interparliamentary coopration with Central Asian countries

At the initiative of the Kazakh side, a meeting was held between the Ambassadors of Central Asian countries and the President of the National Council of the Parliament of the Republic of Austria, Walter Rosenkranz, El.kz cites Kazakh FM.

During the dialogue, President Rosenkranz emphasized the growing importance of Central Asia in global politics and underlined the European Union's increasing interest in the region. According to him, Austria attaches great importance to expanding partnerships with Central Asian states and strives for constructive cooperation in various areas. Particular emphasis was placed on interparliamentary interaction. Rosenkranz expressed readiness to promote stronger ties between Austrian and Central Asian parliamentarians.

The Ambassador of Kazakhstan, Mukhtar Tileuberdi noted that the meeting is taking place against the backdrop of the Central Asia – EU Summit in Samarkand. Kazakh Ambassador provided detailed information on the political reforms initiated by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the prospects for cooperation between Kazakhstan and Austria, as well as the interaction between the parliaments within the IPA CIS and the OSCE PA.

Ambassadors of other Central Asian countries shared information about current reforms in their respective states, the dynamics of cooperation with Austria, and expressed interest in more active parliamentary dialogue. They particularly emphasized the importance of raising awareness among Austrian parliamentarians about the reform processes underway in the region.

The parties discussed potential formats for deepening interparliamentary cooperation, including delegation exchanges and joint initiatives in international forums. The heads of diplomatic missions invited the President of the Austrian Parliament to pay an official visit to Central Asia.
