Astana to host Grand Slam Judo World Tournament
On June 16-18, Astana will host the Qazaqstan Barysy Grand Slam Judo World Tournament. The tournament, which will bring together the strongest judokas in the world, will be held in the capital's sports complex "Barys Arena", El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Judo Federation of Kazakhstan.
344 athletes from 43 countries were accredited to participate in the competitions included in the calendar of the International Judo Federation (IJF). Among the world leaders in the tournament will be Olympic champions and prize-winners Nora Gyakova (Kosovo), Fabio Basile (Italy), Kisikyu Sarah (France), Guram Tushushvili (Georgia), Van Dyke Sunny (Nederlands), Odette Guffrid (Italy), as well as world champions Assunto Scutto (Italy), Nemanja Maidov (Serbia), Beka Gviniashvili (Georgia).
The honor of Kazakhstan will be defended by the silver medalist of the World Championship Gusman Kyrgyzbayev, the bronze medalist of the World Championship Abiba Abuzhakynova, the winners of several world Grand Slam and Grand Prix tournaments Zhansay Smagulov, Nurkanat Serikbayev, Daniyar Shamshaev, Galiya Tynbayeva, Islam Bozbayev and many others
On the tatami "Qazaqstan barysy Grand Slam", judokas will earn points to participate in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris and 2028 in Los Angeles.
