Almaty to host folk music festival “Parade of Ancient Instruments"

On April 22 and 23, the Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory will host the International Festival "Parade of Ancient Instruments", El.kz reports citing the Kazakh Ministry of Culture and Information.
The festival will bring together researchers, musicians and craftsmen from Kazakhstan, China, Russia and other countries in Almaty. Participants will present unique folk instruments, rare performance techniques and little-known traditions rooted in deep history.
The main goal of the event is to preserve and popularize traditional instrumental art, many forms of which are endangered today. The "Parade of Ancient Instruments" will become a platform for the exchange of experience between generations and musical cultures of different countries.
The festival program includes master classes, lectures on the history and technology of making instruments, as well as a round table dedicated to the problems of preserving folklore heritage. The festival days will end with concerts with the participation of students, teachers and invited performers.
