Alikhan Smailov: Kazakhstan to significantly increase fuel and lubricants production
The Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov spoke about the Government's plans to increase the production of fuels and lubricants in the country. He voiced his report at a meeting chaired by the Head of State, El.kz cites primeminister.kz.
Alikhan Smailov noted that currently measures are taken to increase the resource base of hydrocarbon raw materials and production capacity for its further processing.
"In order to cover the shortage of fuels and lubricants in the domestic market, there are plans to expand the capacity of the Shymkent Refinery from 6 to 12 million tons per year. To load it with raw materials it is planned to implement projects to expand the oil pipeline Atyrau – Kenkiyak and Kenkiyak – Kumkol," the Prime Minister said.
He added that this year the construction of a new gas processing plant in Zhanaozen with a capacity of 900 million cubic meters will be launched. In general, legislative norms have been adopted in the gas sector, which will provide an additional 4 billion cubic meters of commercial gas a year.
Prime Minister also recalled that in the field of petrochemicals a project for the production of butadiene and its derivatives with a capacity of 319 thousand tons per year is being implemented. At the same time a complex for the production of polyethylene with a capacity of 1.2 million tons per year is being designed. The total volume of investments will amount to $8.7 billion.
