Akim of Almaty discusses environmental initiatives and urban development with mayor of Beijing

Akim of Almaty Erbolat Dossaev held a meeting with the mayor of Beijing Yin Yong as part of a working visit to China, El.kz reports citing the press service of the Almaty akimat.

The meeting discussed the environment, the transport system and the creation of a comfortable urban environment

The mayor of Beijing noted that over the past 20 years, the Chinese capital has been able to significantly reduce the level of air pollution thanks to environmental policy, a scientific approach and the introduction of innovative technologies. Among the key measures are the development of environmentally friendly transport, restrictions for non-environmentally friendly cars and the modernization of urban infrastructure.

Erbolat Dossaev stressed that measures are already being implemented in Almaty to improve the environment, including the development of public transport, reducing the density of buildings in the city center and the introduction of an updated Master Plan.

The parties agreed to strengthen cooperation and exchange best practices, which will contribute to the economic growth and sustainable development of the city.
