400 thousand of Kazakhstanis become addicted to gambling - Yerlan Koshanov

This was announced by the Chairman of the Mazhilis Yerlan Koshanov at a joint sitting of the Parliament chambers, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Mazhilis of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The Head of State called gambling one of the most terrible social epidemics of the XXI century.

- According to official data alone, about 400 thousand of our citizens became addicted to gambling . Most of them are young people. The law "On Gambling" was discussed for a long time within the walls of the parliament, on various public platforms. There were also influential groups that tried to oppose the passage of the law.

Nevertheless, the deputies tightened the rules for bookmakers and casinos. Criminal liability has been introduced for the organization of online casino activities. A ban on participation in games for debtors and alimony payers has been introduced, - said Yerlan Koshanov.
