The event was held on the eve of the 33rd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Sweden (7 April 1992).
“Our meeting takes place at a special moment: Kazakhstan and Sweden mark 33 years of diplomatic relations – a partnership built on mutual trust, respect, and commitment to long-term cooperation,” the Ambassador noted.
The discussion focused on prospects for expanding trade, economic, and investment cooperation.
Ambassador Suleimenov highlighted the active presence of major Swedish companies in Kazakhstan, including Ericsson, Scania, Epiroc, AstraZeneca, ABB, and Volvo, and their role in contributing to the development of key sectors of the economy and advancing sustainable technologies. He emphasized Kazakhstan’s interest in further expanding Swedish business presence, increasing the volume of investments, and implementing specific joint projects in priority sectors, including green energy, critical raw materials, mechanical engineering, agriculture, innovation, IT, and artificial intelligence.
State Secretary Janse reaffirmed Sweden’s interest in deepening cooperation with Kazakhstan, underscoring the importance of the Central Asian region. “We see great potential in expanding mutually beneficial cooperation with Kazakhstan and are committed to actively developing this partnership,” she stated.
As a practical step, the parties discussed preparations for the upcoming Kazakhstan–Sweden Business Roundtable scheduled for May, which aims to serve as an effective platform for presenting concrete investment initiatives and joint projects and for strengthening direct business-to-business contacts between the two countries.
