30 bln tenge received by toll roads in Kazakhstan over year

Funds from toll roads are will be spent on the maintenance of roads, current repairs and the purchase of equipment. One of the serious issues is the maintenance of roads at the proper level,  El.kz reprots.

As it became known at a government meeting, 80 billion tenge is needed for the maintenance of 25 thousand km of roads of republican significance. Therefore, work on the introduction of toll roads will continue to unload the budget.

To date, the total length of toll roads is 3.2 thousand km. At the end of last year, 30 billion tenge was received from these roads. The funds were used for road maintenance, current repairs and the purchase of equipment. In order to maintain the roads that have been reconstructed at the standard level, this year it is planned to gradually introduce tolls on 11 sections with a length of more than 2 thousand km.

In total, more than 450 thousand trucks are registered in the country, of which 60 thousand do not comply with the permitted volume of transportation of 25 thousand cargo. In this regard, appropriate legislative amendments have been developed to strengthen the responsibility of owners.

Work has begun on the installation of 220 automatic measuring stations for the movement of vehicles by the end of next year. The stations will register violations online and fines issued based on the Sergek camera records.
