1.7 million tourists visited Almaty: an increase of 14.2%

According to World Economic Forum's rating, Kazakhstan ranked 52nd among 119 countries in the list of tourist destinations,El.kz reports citing Kazakh Ministry of Tourism and Sports.

In the first nine months of 2024, 1.7 million tourists visited Almaty, of which 1.2 million were domestic tourists, and 500 thousand were foreign guests, showing a 14,2 % growth in the same period of previous year.

"The city of Almaty demonstrates dynamic growth in the development of tourism infrastructure. In 2024, the number of accommodations in the metropolis reached 366, which is 21 units more than last year. The volume of services provided in the field of tourist accommodation has reached 70 billion tenge," Vice Minister of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan said.

In 2024, state support for tourism increased by 2.5 times. Within the framework of the state program, 32 projects were supported, including the construction of tourist facilities, as well as support for hotel services and vehicles.
