Vladimir Putin arrives in Astana

President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin arrived in Astana to participate in the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), El.kz reports. At the airport, the President was met by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov.

The SCO was founded in 2001 by six countries – Kazakhstan, China, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Later, Iran, India and Pakistan joined the association.

Over 5 years, Kazakhstan's trade turnover with the SCO countries has grown by 56.5%, amounting to $66 billion In January-April 2024, the volume of mutual trade within the organization amounted to $19.1 billion, and over the same period, Kazakhstan's trade turnover with the Russian Federation amounted to $7.4 billion.
