Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held talks with a Nguyen Xuan Thang, member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, El.kz reports.
During the meeting , the President of Kazakhstan noted the positive dynamics of bilateral relations. Tokayev called Vietnam a key partner of Kazakhstan in Southeast Asia, expressing readiness to deepen cooperation in trade, economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian fields.
The Head of State also stressed the importance of developing inter-parliamentary cooperation for the exchange of experience in the field of socio-economic legislation.
In his turn Nguyen Xuan Thang confirmed the active work of Vietnam to implement the agreements reached during the visit of the Kazakh President. He noted that two countries share similar views and successfully cooperate on multilateral platforms, including the UN and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
President Tokayev welcomed the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies and the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics.
At the end of the meeting, the Kazakh leader invited President of Vietnam to visit Kazakhstan next year and take part in the Astana International Forum.
