Universities of Kazakhstan and South Korea expand cooperation

Universities of Kazakhstan and South Korea are expanding cooperation,El.kz reports with reference to the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Within the framework of the project "Creating a National Model of Engineering Education in the Context of the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goals", a visit was made by the team of D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University, together with KazNRTU named after K.I. Satpayev, Seoul National University of Science&Technology.

During the visit, the delegation also met with representatives of the accreditation company ABEEK.

SeoulTech, one of the leading technical universities, is known for its engineering programs and technology innovations. The meeting discussed the exchange of students and teachers, as well as the creation of double degree programs in technical areas. SeoulTech shared its experience and innovative approaches in the field of technology, demonstrated its own electric car assembled on the basis of the university.

An important stage of the discussion was the proposal to develop new joint scientific projects in the fields of electric cars and Mechanical Engineering. To implement this initiative, it is planned to create joint research groups, which will include employees of EKTU and SeoulTech.

It should be noted that within the framework of the project, EKTU is actively working on the creation of a national alliance of engineering universities in Kazakhstan. One of the areas of the alliance's work is to join the Washington Accord, Sydney Accord and Dublin Accord agreements, which will allow the recognition of educational documents that have received national accreditation in the countries participating in these agreements. An agreement has already been reached on the conclusion of a corresponding memorandum.

At the same time, Satbayev University and SeoulTech plan to open a double-degree MBA educational program in mechanical engineering.

This visit is an important step towards creating a modern and competitive model of engineering education in Kazakhstan. The introduction of international experience and standards will help train specialists who are able to effectively solve the problems of sustainable development and make a significant contribution to the progress of society.
