Unique Exhibition “Nomads of Kazakhstan. Traditions and Customs” opened in centre of Vienna

On the occasion of the Independence Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan, an exhibition of the Museum of the History of Almaty was opened at the Austrian National Library. The opening ceremony of the exhibition “Nomads of Kazakhstan. Traditions and Customs” was attended by representatives of government authorities, culture, art, education, tourism, media, Austrian business structures and the diplomatic corps, El.kz cites MFA.

Residents of Vienna and thousands of tourists visiting the city from all over the world have the opportunity to get acquainted with the cultural heritage of Kazakhstan. Visitors can see numerous exhibits from the funds of the Almaty City Museum Association, including musical instruments, household items, clothing, etc. The Kazakh yurt, decorated with natural materials, was particularly popular with visitors.

In his welcoming speech, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Austria, Mukhtar Tileuberdi, drew attention to the significance of the exhibition's title. “Kazakhstan is the inheritor of the great nomadic civilisation. Our country has been a crossroads of many societies, cultures and religions for thousands of years. Kazakhstan is truly proud of its ancient history and diverse cultural heritage”, the Kazakh diplomat emphasised.

“It is gratifying that cultural and humanitarian ties between our countries are deepening. The free spirit of the Kazakh steppe has shaken Europe” said Gerhard Sailler, Deputy Director General of the Austrian Foreign Ministry and former Ambassador of Austria to Kazakhstan.

In addition to the historical relics, the concert by the Alatau Folk Ensemble, which performed works by Kazakh composers on national instruments such as the dombra, kobyz and sazsyrnai, aroused great interest among residents and guests of the Alpine republic.
