In the first half of 2024, Kazakhstan continued to attract more and more tourists. The total number of people who used the services of accommodation facilities reached 3.4 million people. Based on these statistics, the Committee of Tourism Industry of the Ministry of Culture and Sport of the Republic of Kazakhstan named the TOP-5 most popular destinations among tourists in Kazakhstan, El.kz reports.
5th place: Almaty region
In the first half of 2024, 215,826 people visited the Almaty region. This region is known for its natural attractions, including the Charyn Canyon, the Kapchagai Reservoir and The Altyn-Emel State National Natural Park. The Almaty region is an ideal destination for ecotourism lovers.
4th place: Akmola region
Akmola region, which includes the Burabay resort area, attracted 227,935 tourists. This destination is popular for its picturesque lakes, mountains. Burabay is a favorite place for both outdoor activities and recreation, thanks to its clean air.
3rd place: Shymkent
Shymkent, a city famous for its hospitality, has taken one of the leading places in terms of the number of tourists. Between January and June, 252,919 people visited the city. Shymkent offers a variety of opportunities for recreation: from visiting sacred and historical places to health programs in sanatoriums, as well as cultural and sports events that regularly take place in the city.
2nd place: Astana
Astana, being not only the administrative, but also the tourist center of the country, received 677,218 tourists in the first six months of 2024. The capital continues to attract the attention of tourists with its modern architectural objects, cultural events and dynamic development.
1st place: Almaty
Almaty, which has such advantages as ski resorts, amazing nature, mild climate and warm hospitality, is considered the most popular tourist destination in Kazakhstan. In the first half of 2024, the city was visited by 1,070,358 people.
