Swiss city of Basel held concert of Kazakh Ethno-Folklore ensemble

The “Turan” ethno-folk ensemble held a concert in the “Zunftsaal” music hall of the Swiss city of Basel on the Nauryz celebration as part of the Basel Infinity Festival, El.kz cites MFA.

Artists in Kazakh national costumes presented to the public the ancient art of throat singing and performed the repertoire on folk musical instruments, including dombra, kobyz, shan kobyz, zhetygen, sazsyrnai, sybyzgy, dangyr, konyrau and others.

In his welcoming speech, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the Swiss Confederation, Kairat Sarzhanov emphasized the symbolism of the Nauryz celebration in 2023 amid Kazakhstan entering a new era of development as part of the country’s political transformations.

“The parliamentary election to Mazhilis, the lower house of Parliament, held on March 19 represent the final stage of resetting state institutions of Kazakhstan following the presidential election and the nationwide referendum on constitutional amendments last year,” noted Ambassador Sarzhanov.

The event had full attendance, including representatives of government structures, academic and business circles of Switzerland, as well as the Kazakh diaspora living in various cantons of the Confederation.
