Senate of Pakistan expresses strong interest in enhancing cooperation with Kazakhstan

A meeting took place between the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Pakistan, Yerzhan Kistafin, and the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, leader of the parliamentary faction PML (N), Irfan ul-Haque Siddiqui, El.kz cites MFA.

The parties discussed the current state and prospects for cooperation between countries in various fields, with particular emphasis on the development of humanitarian ties and parliamentary diplomacy.

Kistafin highlighted the achievements in Kazakh-Pakistani relations in areas such as trade, logistics, education, culture, and more. He also pointed out the successful implementation of pilot projects for goods delivery through the territories of Kazakhstan and Pakistan.

The Ambassador shared information on Kazakhstan’s priorities and the results of its chairmanship in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), productive engagement with Pakistan, and the participation of the Prime Minister of Pakistan in the SCO Summit held in Astana in July of this year.

He also informed the Senator about the key points of the State of the Nation Address “Just Kazakhstan: Law and Order, Economic Growth, Social Optimism” delivered by the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, on September 2, 2024.

In response, Senator Siddiqui emphasized the special importance of relations with Kazakhstan, noting the need to focus on strengthening ties between the youth of both countries and enhancing cooperation in the fields of education, tourism, science, and the arts.

He commended Kazakhstan’s impressive social and economic achievements. Referring to President Tokayev’s Address, the Senator praised its relevance, timeliness, and the effectiveness of the policies being pursued, both at the national level and in Kazakhstan’s foreign policy.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed to continue the dialogue and work towards the implementation of concrete projects.
