Scientists from 15 countries take part in forum on nuclear technologies in Almaty

The V International Scientific Forum "Nuclear Science and Technology" was held in Almaty, organized by the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan together with the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Ministry of Energy, El.kz reports with reference to the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

The main topic of the forum was the role of nuclear science in the development of high-tech industries, such as medicine, nuclear physics, industry and ecology.

President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mr. Akhylbek Kurishbayev made an opening speech. He stressed that Kazakhstan has a unique research base, including the Institute of Nuclear Physics and the National Nuclear Center, equipped with modern reactors and accelerators. He also noted that the recently opened Nuclear Medicine Center and Data Center create all conditions for the successful development of nuclear physics, materials science and nuclear medicine in the country.

In addition, he drew attention to the active international cooperation of Kazakhstan with the world's leading scientific centers, including the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), and also emphasized the high scientific potential of the country, confirmed by more than 500 publications in international scientific journals in recent years.

The forum participants considered modern research in the field of nuclear reactions, isotope technologies and materials science. Special attention was paid to the introduction of nuclear technologies in medical diagnostics and treatment, as well as the solution of environmental problems, such as radioactive waste management and environmental monitoring.

The forum brought together more than 340 participants, including 135 scientists from 15 countries. During the week, it is planned to present 264 reports, including 20 plenary, 117 sectional, 79 poster and 68 online presentations.

One of the key events of the forum was the signing of memorandums of cooperation with the University of China and the Turkish organization TÜBİTAK.

In addition, on the basis of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a center for scientific and technical cooperation with the European Organization for Nuclear Research was opened, which will significantly strengthen the scientific interaction of Kazakhstan with the world scientific community.
