Public discussion on construction of nuclear power plant held in Kyzylorda

A public discussion on the construction of a nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan was held today in Kyzylorda, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The event, organized by the regional Alliance of NGOs and the regional public council, was attended by representatives of state institutions, the public council, non-governmental organizations, public figures, labor veterans, environmentalists, representatives of political parties, the media, and residents of the region.

- During the discussions, the participants asked questions regarding the safety of nuclear power plants, its operation, project financing, personnel training, as well as the current situation and the forecast for the development of the domestic energy complex. Veterans and social activists of the region stressed that when implementing the project, it is important to ensure transparency at all stages, broad public participation in decision-making, the report says.

Following the meeting, according to the press service, the participants noted the importance of the construction of the nuclear power plant, stressing its importance for the further socio-economic development of the country, including for increasing the energy complex, improving the quality of life of people.

- According to Kyzylorda residents, it is necessary to widely inform the public about a large-scale project. The support of all Kazakhstanis is important in its implementation, the Ministry of Energy reports.
