Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting with military personnel who served as part of the National Peacekeeping Contingent of Kazakhstan.
The President expressed gratitude to the officers and soldiers who honorably fulfilled the duties within the framework of the UN peacekeeping missions.
To be a peacekeeper is to be a messenger of peace. This is a great honor and a high responsibility. You represented Kazakhstan with dignity, showed courage, strengthened the authority of our army and the entire state," the Supreme Commander-in-Chief said.
The President stressed that in an unstable international situation, the role of peacekeeping forces is significantly increasing. Kazakhstan, as Tokayev emphasized, remains a supporter of the peaceful settlement of conflicts and supports global initiatives to ensure stability and security.
Since 2014, the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan have been taking part in operations under the auspices of the UN. During this time:
- about 700 military personnel were involved in peacekeeping units,
- 80 Kazakhstanis performed tasks as military observers and staff officers.
The President paid special attention to female servicemen taking part in international missions. He stressed that among the peacekeepers there are also Kazakh officers who continue the heroic path of Aliya Moldagulova, Manshuk Mametova and Khiuaz Dospanova, thereby contributing to strengthening the image of Kazakhstan on the world stage.
