The nationwide referendum on the construction of the NPP in Kazakhstan will be held on October 6, the President announced delivering his State-of-the-Nation Address, El.kz reports.
Tokayev noted that there are about 200 NPPs in 30 developing countries. Taking into account the national interests, the President emphasizes the importance of making an informed decision on the construction of a nuclear power plant.
The President recalled that the idea of holding a referendum on the construction of a nuclear power plant was already announced last year and has been discussed in society throughout the year. In this regard, Tokayev supported the Government's proposal to hold a national referendum on October 6 this year.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev is set to sign the corresponding decree today.
