President of Kazakhstan receives EU Commissioner for International Partnership

The Head of State received European Commissioner for International Partnership Jozef Síkela,El.kz reports via Akorda.

Welcoming the high-ranking representative of the European Union, Tokayev noted that Kazakhstan places a high priority on the development of comprehensive cooperation with the EU, an important foreign economic and investment partner of our country.

Kazakhstan remains a key partner of the European Union in Central Asia, and the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement creates a solid basis for deepening our multifaceted cooperation, the Head of State said.

In his turn,Jozef Síkela thanked the President for the opportunity to meet and noted that the EU pays great attention to the region.

– This is my first significant mission as Commissioner for International Partnerships. It is no coincidence that I have decided to visit all five Central Asian countries. This clearly demonstrates the European Union's intention to ensure deeper and more sustainable interaction with Kazakhstan and other states in the region," the European Commissioner said.

The interlocutors discussed a range of practical issues on the bilateral agenda, with an emphasis on implementing both existing and new economic projects aimed at developing transport corridors, logistics infrastructure, sustainable energy, and digital solutions. 

An exchange of views also took place on pressing regional and global issues. Both sides confirmed their mutual readiness to further coordinate approaches on the international stage, including within the framework of the "Central Asia – European Union" format.
