In 2024, the number of people who arrived in Kazakhstan for permanent residence amounted to 29,282 people, which is 15.3% more compared to the previous year, El.kz reports citing the press service of the Bureau of National Statistics.
The number of people leaving Kazakhstan for permanent residence in another country reached 12 732 people.
In 2024, 81.6% of the total number of arrivals came from CIS states, and 74.8% of those who left also went to the Commonwealth countries. Among other states, the largest number of migrants arrived from China, Mongolia and Turkey, while among those who left, moves to Germany, Poland and the United States prevail.
Those who arrived from abroad most often chose large cities and economically developed regions to live. The largest number of migrants settled in Almaty (6,260 people), Almaty (4,788) and Mangistau (3,680) regions. At the same time, the largest outflow of the population was recorded in North Kazakhstan (2,133 people), Karaganda (1,588) and East Kazakhstan (1,195) regions.
