New horizons of partnership in agriculture: Kazakhstan and Estonia discuss key areas of cooperation

Altay Kulginov, the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Estonia, met with Piret Hartman, Estonia’s Minister of Regional Development and Agriculture. During the meeting, the parties explored opportunities for strengthening bilateral cooperation in animal husbandry and crop production,El.kz cites MFA.

Minister Hartman expressed interest in further collaboration on the supply of pedigree cattle to Kazakhstan and emphasized the need for developing a logistics route to facilitate Estonian companies involvement in this sector. He also conveyed Estonia’s eagerness to participate in the upcoming 7th session of the Kazakh-Estonian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation (IGC). In this context, she proposed establishing a dedicated Working group to chart the next steps in advancing agricultural cooperation.

Ambassador Kulginov highlighted the importance of fostering stronger ties between the agricultural sectors of both nations. He invited Estonian businesses to play a more active role in the formation of a seed fund and encouraged greater investment in Kazakhstan’s agricultural industry, particularly in the processing of Kazakh agricultural products.

Additionally, considering Estonia’s extensive experience in forestry, the Ambassador expressed interest in fostering partnerships with Kazakhstan’s national parks to enhance cooperation in this field.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to include the proposed topics in the agenda for the upcoming Working Group session within the framework of the IGC.
