The National Bank of Kazakhstan is starting to publish preliminary estimate of the external debt of the Republic of Kazakhstan, beginning with the publication of data as of January 1st, 2025, El.kz reports citing nationalbank.kz.
External debt is the outstanding amount of actual and unconditional liabilities of the country’s residents to nonresidents at a particular point in time, which requires payment(s) of principal and / or interest.
Previously, the National Bank of Kazakhstan published data on external debt on the 90th day after the reporting quarter, in accordance with the Schedule of Release of Statistical Information. Now, in addition to this data, a preliminary estimate of the external debt of Kazakhstan will also be published.
These publications will be released quarterly on the last day of the month following the reporting quarter, simultaneously with the release of information on preliminary estimate of the balance of payments for the relevant period.
The National Bank of Kazakhstan is constantly working to expand the volume of published statistical and analytical information. This publication will provide a more timely assessment of the country's position in the external sector and will be useful to government agencies, analysts, researchers, and rating agencies.
