Musical gift from a Canadian star to Kazakh women on March 8

Astana Opera will celebrate International Women’s Day with a performance by a famous Canadian composer and pianist Steve Barakatt, El.kz cites astanaopera.kz.

The Néoréalité concert featuring the Astana Opera Symphony Orchestra, Ballet Company and Children’s Choir under the baton of conductor Elmar Buribayevon March 8 will be held at the opera house’s Grand Hall as part of the artist’s world tour of the same name. In an interview ahead of his performance, the musician spoke about his sources of inspiration, the unifying power of art and the role of women in shaping society. 

It should be noted that internationally acclaimed composer, pianist, music producer and creative director Steve Barakatt is one of the world’s foremost authors of official anthems, having written Lullaby, The UNICEF Anthem, city anthems, anthem of the Ordre National du Québec, and numerous prestigious organizations and events. As a concert pianist, he has presented more than 500 live performances on five continents. His music has been featured on hundreds of TV programs & series as well as on major sports event TV broadcasts such as the FIFA World Cup and the Formula 1 Grand Prix. As a recording artist, he has sold over five million albums worldwide and his music catalogue reached 250,000,000 views on YouTube. Over the course of a career spanning over three decades, Steve Barakatt has received numerous awards, including being named Knight of Ordre National du Québec, and collaborated with leading music collectives, artists, record labels, studios, brands and organizations on hundreds of projects around the world.

In turn, the opera house’s creative team also expressed their joy at collaborating with the brilliant Canadian musician Steve Barakatt. According to Astana Opera’s deputy director Malika Tulegenova, “Steve Barakatt’s has touched millions worldwide, and his ability to bring together orchestral, choral, and ballet elements in one concert will create a truly unique experience for our audience.”
