Monument to Mustafa Kemal Ataturk unveiled in Almaty

The solemn opening of a monument dedicated to the first President of Turkey Mustafa Kemal Ataturk took place in Almaty today. The monument was erected by the city akimat in the park named after Mustafa Kemal since 2023, El.kz reports.

The opening ceremony brought together many famous personalities, including Minister of Culture and Information Aida Balayeva, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Kazakhstan Mustafa Kapuca, Secretary General of TURKSOY Sultan Raev, Mayor of Almaty Yerbolat Dossaev, as well as representatives of the Turkish diaspora and cultural elite.

Minister Balayeva, opening the event, stressed that the initiative to install the monument was proposed by the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during the visit of Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Kazakhstan, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey.

“Thanks to the Heads of our states, relations between Kazakhstan and Turkey have reached a new level and are now developing dynamically in all spheres. Cultural ties have become a golden bridge of cooperation between the two fraternal countries," Aida Balayeva focused on the significance of the monument, emphasizing that it is a symbol not only of respect for the historical heritage of Turkey, but also reflects the close partnership and interaction between the two peoples.
