Meeting of ECHO working group on aviation security held in Paris

The meeting addressed issues related to the identification and compilation of a list of needs and problems in the field of aviation security in the states of the region, the effective implementation of the Global Aviation Security Plan (GASP), operational coordination between countries in the event of threats and risks, as well as new ICAO documents, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Industry and Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In his speech, Deputy Head of the Working Group, Director of the Aviation Security Department of JSC "Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan" Darkhan Katyshev informed the members of the working group and the ICAO Secretariat that in order to improve regional cooperation and exchange of experience on aviation security issues in the period 2021-2022, mutual visits were made to Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and the Republic of Georgia.

As a result of the meeting, mechanisms were developed to achieve sustainable aviation security capacity-building for all countries in the region and a list of the prevailing needs and challenges in the field of protecting civil aviation from acts of unlawful interference, and ways to address them.

The next meeting of the ECHO working group is planned to be held on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan in 2024.      

The Working Group was established in 2019 to strengthen aviation security at the regional level and strengthen cooperation between the states of the ICAO offices in the Europe and North Atlantic (EUR/NAT) zones.
