The evening is dedicated to the anniversary of the creative work of one of the most famous opera divas of our country. Honoured Artist of Kazakhstan, laureate of the State Prize of Kazakhstan Maira Mukhamedkyzy has been charming everyone with her skill and unique voice for three decades, leaving an indelible mark in the viewers’ hearts.
Maira Mukhamedkyzy’s creative path is a success story, full of hard work, striving for excellence and love for music. From her first steps onstage to international recognition, every moment of her career is associated with conquering new heights.
“Thirty years have flown by in an instant. I have many achievements that I can be proud of. Over the years, I have performed in 50 opera productions, performed many Kazakh folk songs that are part of my soul, took part in numerous concerts – this is a stroke of luck that not every classical singer has. Certainly, such successes come only through great work and diligent quests. Therefore, I can proudly say that I am celebrating the thirtieth anniversary of my creative work in my homeland with a wealth of experience. A person who has a dream will definitely achieve their goal, and therefore I am proud of myself. I think that thanks to many years of work I have reached real heights,” Maira Mukhamedkyzy shared.
Maira Mukhamedkyzy is more than just a performer. During her career, she has not only demonstrated the highest professionalism, but also inspired many young vocalists to follow their dreams. Her soprano voice, which is capable of performing a wide range of roles, can be heard at the best stage venues in the world. She has performed in opera houses in Paris (she was the first Kazakh soloist of the Opéra National de Paris!), Beijing, Moscow, Washington D.C., New York, London, Istanbul, Delhi, Seoul, Vienna, Budapest, but the Kazakh stage venues have always occupied a special place in her heart. The concert in Astana will not only be a symbol of her many years dedicated to art, but also a declaration of love for Kazakh culture and her people.
The concert program prepared for the anniversary was thought out to the smallest detail by the artist herself. Guests of the evening will be able to enjoy both the best arias from the world opera heritage and the works by Kazakh composers, which acquire their own unique character when performed by Maira. These include Abai Qunanbaiuly’s “Kozimnin Qarasy”, the Kazakh folk song “Aghazhai Altai”, Heitor Villa-Lobos’ Brazilian Bachiana No. 5, Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s “To Bylo Ranneyu Vesnoi” and many others.
“For me, Astana Opera has a special meaning. I worked for twenty years at Almaty’s Abai Opera House, seven years in France and about six years in the capital. I can say that I have performed all the leading roles in both national and world opera productions. Therefore, at the concert I will present arias that I have sung from childhood to the present day, as well as those works that I have performed at international competitions. A big event in my life was winning the Tchaikovsky Competition, where I became a laureate. Wonderful pianist, Honoured Worker of Kazakhstan Temirzhan Yerzhanov, who now lives in the USA, performed there with me as an accompanist. At the upcoming concert, we will also take the stage together and perform the same works as back then. I do not want to disclose all the details of the program so as not to spoil the surprise, but I want to hold the concert in a unique format that the audience has not seen before. Now we are actively preparing for it with the stage director and my long-time friend Mikhail Pandzhavidze, as well as with other friends, including German designer Harry Hummel, with whom we are connected by art,” the singer noted.
Honoured Worker of Kazakhstan Maestro Abzal Mukhitdin will cut a brilliant figure conducting the Astana Opera Symphony Orchestra this evening. The opera house’s choir will perform under the direction of principal choirmaster Honoured Worker of Kazakhstan Yerzhan Dautov.
“I am sincerely grateful to my viewers who have supported me and stayed with me for all these 30 years. Over the years, I have formed an audience that follows my work, and I would like to see them all at the upcoming concert. I invite all art connoisseurs,” Maira Mukhamedkyzy concluded.
It is known that the celebrated singer plans to hold a series of concerts in all cities of Kazakhstan, starting from the capital and ending in Shymkent.
