The opening ceremony of the Kazakhstan Weightlifting Championship among men and women in individual team and individual exercises was held at the Eurasia Sports Complex, El.kz news agency reports with reference to the press service of the Akimat of Kyzylorda region.
Deputy Akim of Kyzylorda region Nurymbet Saktaganov opened the competition, noting that it is a great honor for the region to hold the weightlifting championship annually.
Four-time world champion in weightlifting Ilya Ilyin called the Kyzylorda region the "Capital of Weightlifting".
It should be noted that 16 teams of 190 athletes from the cities of Astana, Almaty, Shymkent and 13 regions of the country participate in the competitions.
