Kazakhstan’s IT Projects became winners of international telecommunication union competition

The Permanent Mission of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the WTO took part in the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) 2023 where projects from Kazakhstan have participated in the WSIS Prizes 2023 international competition, El.kz cites MFA.

Two Kazakh projects were awarded for outstanding initiatives and the use of information and communication technologies for the benefit of society.

Secretary-General of International Telecommunication Union Doreen Bogdan-Martin and WSIS Chairperson, Minister of Digital Transformation of Slovenia Emilia Stoimenova Duh presented the award to CEO of the agricultural insurance service “Agroinsurance” Yeldos Auezbekov for winning the best project award in the E-agriculture category.

The service was launched in 2019 on the “Qoldau.kz” digital platform and its implementation became possible due to the digitization of all agricultural lands in Kazakhstan on the platform. With the help of this service, farmers can insure their fields against drought without leaving the office.

The accreditation service “TechReg” created by the Ministry of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan became the champion in the “Electronic Environment” category.

This service is designed to automate business processes related to technical regulation, state control, standardization, accreditation, conformity assessment (certification) and ensuring the uniformity of measurements (metrology).

It should be noted that along with Kazakh projects, the following were announced as champions of WSIS Prizes 2023:

- information system of transportation and provision of regions with vegetables (Kingdom of Bhutan);

- a mobile advisory services project reaching about 1 million small farmers in West Bengal, India, where mobile consultations are provided in several languages;

- “Meteobot” system of meteorological stations for farming precision (Bulgaria);

- Intelligent Vegetation Analysis System (Saudi Arabia).
