Kazakhstanis win five medals at Asia-Pacific Deaf Championship

Karaganda athletes take part in the first Asia-Pacific Martial Arts Championship in Kyrgyzstan. Competitions in taekwondo have already ended, where representatives of the martial art of our region won five medals, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the akimat of the Karaganda region.

About 300 athletes from eight countries of the world, in addition to taekwondo, compete in judo, Greco-Roman and freestyle wrestling. The championship takes place from 1 to 12 March.

As part of the national team of Kazakhstan from the Karaganda region, they performed and won medals: Ayan Abdrash (w/k 58 kg) - first place, Aijomol Abdikatova (w/k 57 kg) - second, Aida Makatova (w/k 67 kg)

took second place, Nurdaulet Zhakyp (w/k 68 kg) Viktor Frundin (w/k +80 kg) became the third.

All of them are pupils of the regional school for disabled sports.

The competition is no different from the usual ones, it has the same rules. The only addition is that after the referee's command, the red light comes on. Athletes focus only on visual cues due to hearing problems. They also do not hear the tips and commands of the coach, they count only on themselves during sparring.

The tournament is official, so our athletes earned rating points to participate in the next Deaflympics.
