Kazakhstan and China discuss development of bilateral relations

Speaker of the Chinese Parliament supported Tokayev's initiatives

Yerlan Koshanov held talks with The Chairman of the 13th NPC Standing Committee Li Zhanshu, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of Mazhilis.

The meeting was held in an online format. The parties exchanged views on the development of bilateral relations, including the legislative bodies of two countries.

Li Zhanshu congratulated Yerlan Koshanov on his election as Сhairman of the Mazhilis and invited him to pay an official visit to China.

"Today, strategic and trusting relations have been built between our countries, a reliable foundation of which has become a regular dialogue at the highest and high levels.

And thanks to the friendship and trusting relations of the leaders of our countries," the speaker of the Mazhilis emphasized.

He also added that Chinese-Kazakh relations are at a high level of development and serve as a worthy example of interstate relations.

In turn, Yerlan Koshanov said that despite global challenges and a difficult international situation, Kazakhstan has always been and remains a reliable partner of China.

The Chairman of the Mazhilis stressed that under the leadership of Chinese President Xi Jinping, the country has achieved great results, becoming the second largest economy in the world.

He also informed Li Zhanshu about the major political reforms of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev aimed at modernizing the political system and developing the country.

Li Zhanshu stressed that under the leadership of President Tokayev, the world enjoys political stability and economic prosperity in Kazakhstan and the standard of living of Kazakh population and their authority in the international arena are significantly improving.

The parties discussed issues of inter-parliamentary cooperation between a number of international organizations, as well as readiness for further interaction between the countries within the framework of the joint implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative.

In this vein, the initiatives "Digital Silk Road" and "Green Silk Road" are timely to launch major joint projects in the field of digitalization, green technologies and innovations, Yerlan Koshanov specified.

The parties also discussed the issues of joint use of Transboundary Rivers and agreed on the need to strengthen joint work on preservation of their ecosystems and acceleration the process of signing the relevant agreement. Speaking about this, Mr. Li Zhanshu expressed hope that "in the future, on the basis of mutual understanding, our common transboundary Irtysh River will turn into a river of friendship and cooperation."

In addition, the speakers of the Parliaments discussed the development of trade and economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and China.
