Kazakhstan wins World Rapid & Blitz Cadet Chess Championship 2024

A young chess player from Astana, Bissaliyeva Alisha, won a gold medal at the World Rapid & Blitz Cadet Chess Championship 2024, which was held in the Albanian city of Durrës, El.kz reports.

The Championships were held from April 25-29 and brought together 375 participants from 43 countries in rapid and 336 players from 43 countries for Blitz event.

The event is organized by FIDE, included rapid and blitz competitions.

“Six medals, including one gold, at the World Rapid and Blitz Championships are the result of great work by coaches, parents and athletes themselves. Our guys are not only the pride of Kazakhstan, but also an example for thousands who are just starting their journey in chess." - the President of the Kazakhstan Chess Federation, Timur Turlov, noted.

Kazakhstan was represented at the championship by 22 chess players, who eventually won six medals. In addition to Bissaliyeva's success, silver medals were won by Nurshin Nurali  from Aktobe in blitz, and bronze medals went to Sultankhan Nurislam from Turkestan in rapid (under eight), Amanzhol Khanzada from Aktobe in rapid (under 12) and Zhauynbay Alimzhan from Astana in blitz (under 10 years old).

The top five places received diplomas, medals, cups and prizes. DGT company presented the winners of the Blitz Championships with DGT boards.
