The first ever Republican Olympiad in artificial intelligence - AI Olymp will be held in Kazakh capital, El.kz reports citing the press service of the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The project was initiated by the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry, the Ministry of Education and the Federation for Competitive Programming.
The AI Olymp is aimed at developing the talents of schoolchildren in the fields of programming, data analysis, and artificial intelligence technologies.
The competition will be held in the spring in two stages. At the first stage, schoolchildren are set to take part in the online format , solving problems in programming, mathematics and classical machine learning. The second and final stage will include 30-40 best participants who will have to solve practical problems in data analysis, algorithm development and artificial intelligence concepts.
Minister of Digital Development Zhaslan Madiyev stressed that the Olympiad is held under the auspices of the "Generative Nation" initiative, aimed at creating a society of the future. He noted that the event provides an opportunity for young talents to reveal their abilities and prepare for participation in international Olympiads.
The winners will have a chance to join the national team of Kazakhstan to participate in the IOAI International Olympiad, which will be held from August 2 to 9, 2025 in Beijing.
Minister of Education Gani Beisembayev noted that AI Olymp is a strategic step to unlock the potential of schoolchildren and train highly qualified specialists in the field of digital technologies.
President of the Federation for Competitive Programming Bagdat Mussin noted that participation in such competitions develops skills for solving complex problems, algorithmic thinking and the ability to work under pressure, which is especially in demand in the modern IT world.
