The Kazakh delegation headed by Deputy Prime minister, Chief of Staff of the Government Galymzhan Koishybayev took part in the first Forum on Sustainable Development in the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) region, which was held in the city of Arkadag, Turkmenistan, El.kz reports citing primeminister.kz.
Speaking at the plenary session, Koishybayev noted the importance of the Forum as a platform for expanding interregional ties and increasing the trade, economic and investment potential of the ECO member countries.
"Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals is a national priority for Kazakhstan. During the chairmanship of the ECO, Astana is focused on promoting the elimination of trade barriers, logistical connectivity, unification of standards and the creation of digital platforms for economic integration," he stressed.
During the meeting with the President of Turkmenistan, the Kazakh official noted the strengthening of bilateral relations thanks to a constructive political dialogue at the highest level and reported on preparations for the upcoming international meetings.
Particular attention was paid to the initiative to launch a "green corridor" to promote joint projects in the fields of energy, transport, agriculture and industry. The importance of partnership in the gas industry as a basis for further economic rapprochement was emphasized.
Koishybayev also held talks with Iranian Vice President Hamid Pour-Mohammadi.
The parties noted the activity of bilateral dialogue, a high level of interaction in multilateral formats and significant potential in the field of trade and economy.
