Kazakhstan takes part in 6th ECO Ministerial Meeting on Tourism

The 6th ECO Ministerial Meeting on Tourism convened in Erzurum. At the event, Kazakhstan was represented by the Vice Minister of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerzhan Yerkinbayev represent Kazakhstan at the event, El.kz reports citing the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan.

The Ministers of Tourism of Azerbaijan, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Turkey, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, as well as ECO Secretary General Asad Majeed Khan and Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States Kubanychbek Omuraliev attended the event.

The meeting focused on the development of the tourism industry in the ECO countries.

- During the meeting, the heads of delegations presented information on the state of the tourism industry in their countries and initiatives to develop cooperation in the ECO space. Issues of promoting the region as a single tourist brand, expanding air traffic between countries, creating a common online platform and other areas of interaction were discussed, the report says.

The ministers also approved the selection of Lahore from Pakistan, as the ECO Tourism Capital for 2027, Mary from Turkmenistan for 2028 and Karakol for 2029

During the meeting, Erzurum Declaration was also adopted by the participants.

In addition, the delegation of Kazakhstan took part in the Palandöken Economic Forum and in the official ceremony dedicated to the announcement of the city of Erzurum as the tourist capital of the ECO for 2025.
