Kazakhstan improves its position in global innovation index 2024

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) has officially launched the Global Innovation Index (GII) 2024. The event brought together leading experts and researchers and government representatives from around the world to discuss the key findings of the index and its implications for driving innovative development, El.kz cites MFA.

This year, Kazakhstan took 78th place among 133 countries of the world, improving its rating by 3 positions. The greatest progress was made in such indicators as “Level of business development” (+9 positions),“Investments” (+5 positions), “Use of ICT” (+14 positions)and “Results of creative activity” (+7 positions).

As a result, together with progress in a number of other indicators, Kazakhstan ranked in the middle among the group of upper-middle-income countries (22nd place among 34 countries).

Commenting on the results of the rating, the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the World Trade Organization Asset Irgaliyev noted that the consistent improvement of Kazakhstan’s position is a consequence of the large-scale reforms carried out in the country, designed to strengthen democratic institutions, guarantee the rule of law and create favorable conditions for the dynamic development of the private sector and attracting investment.

Irgaliyev stressed the importance of innovation for sustainable and inclusive development of the country and called on the international community to cooperate in order to jointly share experience and knowledge, emphasizing the need to integrate innovative solutions into everyday practice.
