Kazakhstan champions global reform and regional unity at UN Security Council Debate

The Permanent Representative of Kazakhstan to the United Nations, Kairat Umarov, participated in the Security Council High-Level Open Debate on “Practicing Multilateralism, Reforming and Improving Global Governance” chaired by Wang Yi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, El.kz cites MFA.

Ambassador Umarov reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s commitment to multilateralism, called for reforming the Security Council to ensure equitable regional representation, including greater involvement of the “Middle Powers” and developing countries. He reiterated President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s vision that the UN is the cornerstone of global cooperation. He emphasized Kazakhstan’s contribution to nuclear non-proliferation, the Astana peace process on Syria, and noted cooperation within the SCO, CICA, C5+1 and other regional and global formats.

Kazakh envoy expressed support for the UN reform carried out by Secretary-General António Guterres and emphasized the country’s role as a bridge between East and West. Aligning with President Tokayev’s call for strengthening regional cooperation the importance of collective action to build a peaceful and just world was noted.
