The Ministers of Health of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkey signed a protocol to create a unified information system for donor organs, El.kz reports.

TÜRKTRANSPLANT system will ensure the exchange of information on donors and recipients, simplify the organization of organ transplants and allow the participating countries to jointly address issues related to organ donation and transplantation.

Over the past 10 years, more than 2.5 thousand transplant operations have been performed in Kazakhstan. More than four thousand patients in the country are now waiting for transplantation.

As previously reported by the former Minister of Health Azhar Giniyat, out of 40 thousand Kazakhstanis who expressed a desire to become donors, 15% are ready to donate organs to save other lives.
