Kazakhstan and Belgium strengthen interparliamentary cooperation

The Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Belgium, Margulan Baimukhan, held a meeting with Belgian parliamentarians, including the Chair of the Kazakhstan-Belgium Friendship Group, Senator Stephanie D’Hose (former Speaker of the Belgian Senate), Senator Jasper Pillen, and Senator Matti Vandemaele, El.kz cites Kazakh FM.

The main topic of discussion was the development of interparliamentary cooperation between Kazakhstan and Belgium, as well as upcoming bilateral and multilateral events in 2025.

During the meeting, Stephanie D’Hose noted the positive dynamics of bilateral relations and emphasized the strategic importance of strengthening ties between Kazakhstan and Belgium. She expressed confidence that further cooperation would bring long-term benefits to both sides.

Key aspects of bilateral cooperation were also discussed, including the development of education and culture, transport logistics, economic cooperation, and energy partnership. Special attention was given to the prospects for expanding cooperation between Central Asia and the European Union, as well as issues related to trade and investment collaboration.

The Belgian side expressed its readiness to host a Kazakh parliamentary delegation in 2025, marking an important step toward strengthening the interparliamentary track and exchanging experiences.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties exchanged views on key international issues and underscored the importance of enhancing cooperation within the framework of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).

Both the Kazakh diplomat and Belgian parliamentarians reaffirmed their commitment to fostering a dynamic and constructive interparliamentary dialogue, recognizing its vital role in strengthening bilateral and multilateral partnerships.
