Kazakh President receives head of Supreme Audit Chamber

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received today Chairwoman of the Supreme Audit Chamber Alikhan Smailov, El.kz reports citing Akorda.

The latter reported on the activities of the Chamber for 2024 and plans for the period ahead.

According to the report, last year, 27 audits were carried out at 214 facilities, up to 11 trillion tenge.

Violations worth 862 billion tenge were revealed. 135 billion tenge was returned to the budget, which is fivefold more than the amount of reimbursed funds in 2023.

The main systemic weaknesses are recorded in pricing at construction sites, project finance, the processing industry, and agriculture subsidizing.

In this regard, the Supreme Audit Chamber sent recommendations and instructions to state bodies to eliminate violations.

Over 40 audits will be conducted this year.

Execution of the budgets of the cities of Astana and Almaty, North Kazakhstan, Kostanay and Zhambyl regions, Samruk Kazyna Fund, Kazatomprom National Company, KEGOC, National Bank and Ministry of Emergency will be audited in 2025.

Audit in the fields of science, defense, law enforcement, sports, social protection and forestry will be conducted.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed to further improve the state audit system and stressed the importance of introducing digital solutions to improve the efficiency of control over budget spending.
